Medjool Date Scones

Sweet, soft, and packed with the natural caramel-like flavour of Medjool dates, these scones are the perfect companion for a cup of tea on a chilly day. Whether it's for breakfast, brunch, or a little treat, these scones are sure to become a favourite!

Ingredients

    • 2 cups
      all-purpose flour
    • 1 tbsp
      baking powder
    • ½ tsp
      salt
    • ¼ cup
      cold butter, cubed
    • 1/3 cup
      sugar
    • 1 cup
      Medjool dates, pitted and chopped
    • ½ cup
      milk, or almond milk for a dairy-free option
    • 1
      egg (for brushing the tops, optional)

Instructions

    1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
    2. In a large bowl, mix together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
    3. Cut in the cold butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
    4. Stir in sugar and chopped Medjool dates.
    5. Slowly add milk, mixing until a dough forms.
    6. Transfer the dough onto a floured surface and gently knead it a few times.
    7. Roll out the dough to about 1-inch thick and cut into triangles or rounds.
    8. Place on a lined baking sheet, brush with egg (optional), and bake for 12-15 minutes until golden brown.
